"Architecture has life
And it dies too.
It tells of stories past, of memories, of laughter and pain, of sunshine and rain;
Revealed in its many cracks and peels of paint. "
Decay of the architectural fabric can be seen as fascinating and beautiful, as one observes and appreciates how these constructed spaces organically age and eventually succumb to the effects of time and nature. There is a specific aesthetic that exists amongst architecture in the absence of routine human interaction; it is the aesthetic of decay.This aesthetic develops over time, as buildings cease to function in the way they were originally designed to do so; It develops naturally, as Nature reclaims what was originally it’s own. This reclamation forms a new relationship- that of beauty, mystique and serenity.
